All Caprice models came with a V-8 Engine and Standard Air Conditioning, as the Base Sedan V-6 Disappeared. Instead of the Four-Barrel Carburator, the 305 cu. in (5.0-litter) V-8 now had Throttle-Body Fuel Injection. Horsepower remained the same as before, while Torque got a single boost. Caprice Wagons still had their own Carburated V-8, displacing 307 cubic inches and delivering 140 Horsepower (30 less than the Sedan's). This version of the Full-Size Chevrolet had been around since 1977, and a restyle was anticipated soon.
