1984 CAPRICE CLASSIC

To view photos from the 1984 Caprice Classic Sales BrochureClick Here

1984 was mainly a year for engineering changes.

After a year's absences, the Caprice Classic two-door Coupe returned for 1984.
The Coupe and Wagon came only in Caprice Classic trim.
Standard engines were again 229 cu. in. (3.5-litter) V-6, with 305 cu. in. (5.0-litter) gas V-8 or 5.7-litter diesel optional. External appearance was unchanged.
The Wiper/Washer Controls moved from the Dash to the Turn Signal Lever. Optional Cruise Control gained incremental acceleration/deceleration, which allowed speed changes down to just 1 MPH at a time. Gas engine Wagons had Heavy-Duty Suspension, while Diesel Wagons had Standard Four-Speed Overdrive Transmission.

Caprice equiptment added a:
Folding Armrest, Quartz Clock, Wheel Opening Moldings, Color-Keyed Steering Wheel with Woodgrain insert, Headlamp-On Warning Buzzer, and Lower Carpet Door Trim Panels with Pull Straps.

Caprice Sports Coupes and Sedans had Bumper Rubber Strips. Wagons had Vinyl Bench Seating plus the Overdrive Automatic Transmission. A Landau equipment package with Vinyl Roof cost an extra $306.
